A solid fourteen carat yellow gold and ruby ring. This beautiful hand-made ring is a very simple, yet stylish example of a classic ring one would expect to see in ancient historical scenes. The simple, shaped shank supports this wide and dramatic larger framed mount that holds a stunning faceted ruby. The stone is set by hand and is surrounded by the mount which appears to very much be hand worked, as can be seen by all of the small hammer marks into the gold.
The center ruby is what people crave for in this magnificent and mesmerizing stone; wonderful strong colour and clearness. Thai Rubies display a Royal Red, often with attractive secondary purple flashes, due to their higher iron content reducing fluorescence. While deeper toned than Burmese Rubies due to an absence of light being evenly scattered by silk, Thai Rubies usually display a superior clarity. This very much being the case with this gem. The size of the ruby is just over one carat in weight.
The inside of the shank is stamped with "EA" makers mark, "14k" for fourteen carat yellow gold. There is a good chance that this was made by New York based jeweller Eli Halili Adom. The ancient city of Jerusalem captivated Eli, who was drawn to the idea of buried artifacts gaining meaning over time. Inspired by the region's diverse cultural heritage, from Egyptian and Mesopotamian to Jewish, Roman, Greek, Byzantine, and Islamic artisans, Eli found endless inspiration in the city's ancient spirituality and civilization.
This is not confirmed, but it does appear to be in a style similar to his work. The ring is presented in excellent condition and is a finger size 7.25 US. It can be sized if required.
